How to Submit Your Resume to get a Job Interview:
This video is fun and humorous. That being said, I want to elaborate on the more serious points that you should consider from this video.
Tip #1- Drop Your Resume off in Person to Make a Positive First Impression. This is extremely important. Every time you have the option of dropping off a resume to an actual person, you should do it. Make sure you are dressed professionally. Make sure you are pleasant when you arrive at the business location. Submitting resumes online is fine if that's your only option but it's important to go the extra mile. Allowing some one to see you in person may work for your benefit.
Tip #2- Find Out the Hiring Manager's Name. You not only want to find out the hiring managers name, you want to give them your resume if at all possible. It's important to make contact with the person who is actually making the hiring decisions. Get their name and their contact information (if possible). You may want to follow up with them the following week to see about your candidacy status (note: DO NOT pester the hiring manager, but definitely make your presence known).
Tip #3- Always Include a Cover Letter with Your Resume. Make yourself stand out on paper by noting your qualifications, unique attributes, and experiences on your cover letter.
